Brushless differences.
 

Im getting an Associated B4 for bashing and want to put a brushless combo in it, either 3.5 or 4.5 (excluding MM), i am mostly tempted to get an Xcelorin combo because of its low price (£115 at my LHS) and i like its adjustable throttle curve etc.
The Novak GTB and the LRP Vector series are also sold there but a lot more expensive (for a 17 year old, £20 a week sleep.gif guhh..), GTB £200, LRP £190 and the Mamba Max i would have to order off Ebay and would come to £190.
I just wanted to know, what is the difference, if any, in the performance of these different brushless packages, also, bearing in mind the price difference, which would you suggest, is the £75 extra for the Mamba Max worth it over the Xcelorin?
All i basically want out of it is good performace but reliability aswell, heard about loadsa people having cogging problems with Mamba Max, couldn't be doing will all of that :)

well in a buggy for bashing a 3.5 would be pretty out of control. possibly consider a 5.5 or 6.5. as for esc's the gtb is good and the lrp comp 2007 and tc spec is good. its what you want to run and you can understand more.

Out of control sounds good to me :), i've got loads of huge open spaces around where i am, i want it for bashing, i will be running it on road and off road, not racing it. Is there a difference in the motor's though, are there any other variables to look out for other than the turn number of kV rating that will make a difference?

A 3.5 will put you on your roof if you breath on the trigger and destroy your diff......You want a 5.5 at max

Will the 5.5 still give me good performance? I've got 4x3300mah batteries (Orion Super Duty), how long would you expect the 5.5 to last on one pack, i was thinking that a 3.5 would eat the batteries. :)

a 5.5 could pop your batts. if it doesnt maybe 4-5 mins with the 5.5

I agree, a 3.5 is too much motor for that type of car.

As for the Xcelerin, I would choose the sensored version over the sensorless, but that's just me. They offer a few different motor choices, so you should have no trouble finding one to make that buggy fly.

I think ill go for a 5.5 then, will it still give good performance? Im using a 15x2 brushed atm, raced in the 19T super stock a few times but never used brushless before, so im not sure what to expect from the different turn brushless motors. As far as i can see the Xcelorin has got everyone beat, it's cheap, runs cool, fast, has a programmable ESC and is avalible from my LHS.

IMO the 7.5 feels like a 15t brushed

I know this is way slower than you want to run, but I just want to give you some ideas. I set up our Losi XXX-T trucks with Novak 13.5 brushless motors.
I have 4200 mah matched batteries and we get around 40 minutes of runtime with slow gearing. I built a track here the is small so we are geared a lot slower then we could be. But even running the whole pack out non stop my motors never even get 100 degrees. I have some 10.5 and 8.5 Novak motors too and they get well over 30 minutes of runtime on the same batteries and gearing. Novak does have that new Havok brushless system that is an 8.5 for less that $ 150 complete..

5.5 is fassst! 3.5 is just a joke and 2.5? never seen one before lol.

2.5 cant go 4 mins with out thermaling even with the smallest pinion and the biggest spur in onroad

Sparkzilla, what kinda runtimes could i expect from a 5.5?
As for 8.5, a lot of people at my local racing club are running them in their buggies so that wouldn't be a bad idea :)

I'm not really sure on the 5.5 I had a 6.5 that I ran for about 45 seconds. It was just waaaay too fast for my track. I do have 2 8.5's and get over 30 minutes on them, but like I said I am geared really slow.
