fried GTB?

so i got a gtb. i was not paying attention when i was soldering and i reversed the red an black wires...so as soon as i touched the plugs together it arced and smoked a little(only together for a second). i dont hve a motor at the moment so i dont know if it is fried. i fixed the wires and pluged it all up and it still lights up(just a flashing green light and a solid red one. do they have reverse polarity protection? or is my esc dead?

fried, seen two guys do it at the track on GTB's and cooked them, and I did it to an LRP, brand new one too:cry: but LRP fixed it for free, I would ask Steve Weiss about it and see if they will fix it under warranty or how much to swap it out for a refurb.

most likely its fine. i did it with my gtx. a friend soldered my battery wires backwards and iot got so hot the wires got unsoldered. it was fine for me so ill guess you'll be fine too.

it smells like it came from the cap(yes, i smelled it. lol.) cause the cap smells bad...the esc itself dosent really smell. but it is not under warrenty anymore so that is not an option.

Just curious why you were hooking up a battery....when you don't have a motor for it yet?

Get a motor and test it out.....who knows...it just might be the cap....

i dont know either...it was like 1am and i was thinking "oh, i will hook everything up to see if it works..." never again will i work with electronics that early or when i am tired. the motor comes in today and i will test it out...i pray it still works. i opened it up to check it out and it looks like everything is still fine, just the cap smells.nothing has been going my way this month:flaming:

Good luck....lights working on and off "flashing green light and a solid red one" is a good sign! Much better than no lights...

haza! it works...i pluged everything it...the first "blip" the cap poped again...it blew off one of the black squre things on it:eek: so i un hooked the cap and it runs! i will just have to get a new cap...or can i run without it(10.5)?
