Speed control trouble.
 

I recently purchased a used stampede and it has a tekin pro tempfet esc in it which seems to work when i plug it into the receiver by itself but when i plug the servo in all power is lost. also it has a cheap 1400 tower hobbies 6cell pack in it. I was wondering if plugging the servo into the receiver makes it lose too much power or something is going on with the esc...Also the light on the speed control is very dim when i dont have the servo plugged in. I know the receiver is good b/c i have tried it in another car and it works perfectly...Also the servo works by itself on another system. I have no way of testing the battery on anything else other than my charger...When charging it seems like it is taking a respectable charge somewhere between 1100-1200 mah I've been cycling it this morning on my triton jr. Any help would be appreciated.

I would say there are risk buying 2nd hand ESC & motor. Unless if you knew the seller well enough. But usually problem happens when water hits the electronics. The seller might dried them off & sell it off immediately.

To my experience I can say this problem comes from ESC. What happens when I connect the ESC to receiver & servo. The fans turn at inconsistant rate. I mean one on the motor & other at eSC if you observe carefully The servo are shaking or somehow rattling as it did not get enough current. Since the ESC is under warrantly from Novak. I had it replaced.

When I swap another new eSC everything works perfectly.

Since it works until you add the servo into the equation, I suspect either a bad servo or a bad connection. Make sure you have the servo plugged in correctly - the black/brown wire always goes to the outside edge of the receiver.

I have been experimenting some more and i have it to where it will run with the servo now...the only problem is there is two black wires that have to be connected to make it work. I was under the impression that these were for 4 cell operation or something like that. Or are they supposed to be connected all the time?
