Exploding Lipos

I have recently purchased a xxx-4 roller and now am in the market for something to power it. So far the Havoc Sport 8.5 sounds appealing, and I love the great price ($140 dollars). As for the battery, I'm in a sort of a dilemna.

Will a 15C, 4000 mAh battery (60 cont. amps, 100 burst) be enough to power that 8.5 system? How about a 20C, 3200 mAh battery (64 cont. amps, 120 burst)?

I don't need the best in power.. and I don't really care if they don't last really long.. I'm just wondering if they will explode or not..

I wouldnt risk it

I don't see any risk.

You're talking about 1/10 scale here. 60amp spikes are rare. Either of those batteries will work fine.

dead lipo?

hi,
sorry to borrow this thread...

i've got a 'drained' lipo; any ways to revive or it's going to the trash?

Try charging it as a NiMh at 1C for about 20min, then stop and see if you can still charge it as a LiPo... this is what I had to do with one of my 3s 2200MAH flight packs. It works great now. Just make sure you monitor the temp.

I had a Team Orion Platinum that drained--not too bad--but my charger encountered an error while checking the battery. I connected the balancer to charger so that I could balance while I charged--everything is fine again.

The interesting thing was that the balancer, when used as a stand alone "errored out" too. I might have gotten lucky but it worked!

Thanks,

- Bill

My brother brought his 3 cell, 1100 mAh lipo down to about 6 volts. I thought it was trash so I just left it alone, a few weeks later, I decided to try and recharge it.. charged it as a 2 cell lipo at about .5 amps and it only took a few minutes before it was back up into normal 3 cell range. I have used the pack for about 10 cycles since, no puffing, no problems.
