LRP Pulsar 3

Hiya,

Im just coming back into racing (1/8th Nitro Buggy). Im looking at Lipos and Chargers. Ive read a few bad things about Lipos etc.

So im looking for some advice. Im going to get the Pulsar 3, and a LRP Lipo. Will the Pulsar 3 do everything i need, as in charge, balance etc?? Is there anything to look out for? I am quite new to electrics, so any help will be good.

Cheers, Leigh

yes the lrp is a fine charge, I have it, the ice and the carbon orion charger and I like the lrp the best out of all of them.

I don't think that the Pulsar 3 can balance LiPos... your going to have to get a separate balancer

What charger would you suggest then? Balancing? what does this do?

Balancing is not manditory if you pay for a good lipo but this is a good charger/balancer try this

Ok, im going to sound thick here, but is the balancing done automatically during the charger process? or do you have to do it seperate afterwards?

If you have a separate balancer, you can do both... charge and balance, or just balance.

Drifting101 made a good suggestion with the Turnigy charger. I've heard good things about this charger, and I have a turnigy motor and esc in my RC airplane that I absolutely love. The quality is very good, and the performance is awesome.

Anyone know if you can send back your Pulsar 2 and get it up dates to the Pulsar 3 specs?

Hey all, I just bought myself a LRP Pulsar 3 as well... Haven't really invested in any LiPos yet, but just thinking ahead into the future since I needed a second charger to be able to charge two packs in parallel (in conjuction with my current charger)...

Does the LRP Pulsar 3 charge NiMH just as well as the Pulsar 2? I bought the Pulsar 3 mainly because of the form factor and familiarity with the Pulsar 2... I love my Pulsar 2, it's the best charger I have used (have used several other in the past, never got used to any of the interface) and have never hiccuped once charge after charge one after another...

I have owned 2 of P2s and 2 of the P3s and the P3s give a bit more punch to a nimh

i have had 2 p2s since they come out and they still work great. i have been considering upgrading to the p3 soon.

A question about using Pulsar 3 to charge LiPo packs. I've seen LiPos with those three skinny wires with a connector on the end of it as well as two main connections. I noticed that most LiPo chargers out there connect to these three wires in addition to the two other main wires (the power lines).

I noticed that Pulsar 3s didn't have these connection to these three little wires, how does it charge it? Don't these three wires need to be connected to something inside the charger in order for it to charge? Are they for balancing? If so, can you hook up a balancer on LiPo packs while it's being charged by the Pulsar 3 charger?
