Futaba 3PKS question
Hey all, I have been using my 3pks for a while now with my nitro rigs, but just got around to putting a fasst reciever in my E-Maxx. The problem I am having is that everytime I hit the gas hard it goes into failsafe mode and stops respoding for a couple seconds. I read in the manual about this feature, but it is sort of vague about what to do for electric vehicles. Can anyone point me in the right direction please?

Guessing, but when you hit the throttle hard, batt voltage is dropping below what the failsafe is set at. Either set failsafe lower (not familar with your setup so I don't know if thats possible) or disable it and retest. If you have to disable it to make it run when throttle is mashed, at least you know its your batts and not the radio. Maybe running a rx pac to get the onboard elec load of the main batts could help - depends on how much below the cutoff batts are dropping.
Other solution - better batts or lipo. |
Thats exactly what it's doing and I know why, but my question is if anyone knows how to defeat the failsafe on the radio. The batteries aren't the problem, and I know I shouldn't have to use a seperate rx pack so I know there has to be a way to change it using the radio or reciever.

sounds like an issue with the BEC in the ESC.

There are 2 diff failsafes - one for loss of signal and other is for low voltage. Reading the manual, it looks like the only way to run with both off is to run the tx in ppm mode. It also appears to be an all or nothing type affair. What modea er you running currently?
This is page 17, if you don't have one, you can dnload it from the futaba website - look, it takes a little to find it, but they are all there. |
