Question about voltage regulators
 

I have been running HT Batteries and HT regulator for a while, recently I changed the HT battery for a Losi lipo 2000mAh and after about five minutes the car was loosing signal. Another racer told me that the Spektrum receiver was hot and probably faulty.
But after thinking through, I tend to think that the problem is that the Losi battery is sending too much power to the receiver which is not limited by HT voltage regulator.
Am I right? Any other ideas?
