You really don't need a balancer for the Orion packs. I balance mine every 10-12 charges and it only takes about 20 seconds to do so. Just borrow somebodys balancer at the track if you really want to balance them.

The ICE works great fro me

You do not need a balancer at all for Orion packs. You need the standard banana plug and a 2mm banana plug, and can charge each cell individually. As far as best charger, there is none, but there are MANY great chargers. One just needs to try chargers out and look at the specs. I am in the process of switching my chargers to the Much More Silent platinum because they are so small, VERY easy to use, charge Lipo and Nimh. I like my ICE as well.

Brands/ Chargers to look into:
Much More
LRP
Duratrax ICE
Hyperion
Kokam
(many more....)

That'll work then. Big fan of the ice from back in the day i guess wont worry too much about balancing then , just keep an eye on the difference with a voltmeter

Holding balance that well is mark of quality cells. Does anyone know whose cells these are? Curious....

Thanks, thats awesome, Kokam makes excellent quality cells. They are manufactured with tight tolerance and matched at assembly. The end product quality def shows it.

I was disappointed when Tower dropped Kokam as a supplier, but not surprised. Wonder about some of their decisions sometimes.

It says on the box that my Orion CF Race Spec 3800 came in that they do not need to be balanced. I use the ICE charger with mine and it works great.

I know a few people who have gotten rid of their Silent chargers for Pulsar 3's and ICEs.. apparently they take a long time to start charging at full current.
