Mystery Pack Charge Problem
Hoping someone can help, I have an IB3600 side by side pack that I made up out of a stick pack and it has decided not to hold a charge - sort of.
I have resoldered all the links and discharged and balanced and if I put the volt-meter on the Deans plug it shows that it has 8.4v or there abouts. I have also checked each cell and they show about 1.4v per cell. The problem is when I put it in the car there is very little power, actually to be more correct it starts off really slow and then the motor gradually winds up over 30 seconds or so but never quite gets to full power. The weird thing is that when I check the voltage after I do this it is still showing a reasonable voltage level and when I balance it on the Novak balancer it does all the things a decent pack would do. But if I put it on the Deans discharger at 30amps (or whatever it is) it barely even lights a bulb. Please somebody help me! I don't even care if the pack is irrepairable, I just want to know what is going on! Nick:weird: |
When you were soldering these, how long were you on the cells with the soldering iron? Off hand sounds like they've gotten too hot and thats why they don't/won't charge. Cells that have been overheated (either by charging or in building) do pretty much what your're describing. What kind of charge rate have you been using? How hot have they been getting? How old are they?
