crystal swapping

I seem to remember an article in one of the mags that talked about two people on the same 27mhz band frequency. The article went on to say that you could reverse the transmitter and receiver crystal in one of the radios and then both racers could use the same channel. I have not tried this yet but as soon as I can scratch up two radios on the same 27mhz channel I want to see if it works. I am wondering if anyone has tried this and knows if it works without interference? Thanks.

Yep, it works. Had a driver on the same channal, and all he did was reverse it. No problems after that.

Swapping the Rx and Tx crystals will only work with a 27mhz AM system. This will not work on an FM system.

With so many people using Spektrum, it's rare I had to turn the crystal around.

I agree, I have 2.4 in all of my good cars. I just put my old leftover radios in my play cars for parking lot bashing. I'm impressed with all the "second" timers bringing their old stuff out of the closet and getting it running again. Most of it is the old 27 and 75 band.

I didn't know you could do that.:weird: I thought crystals were all the same and they weren't rx or tx specific
