Range Loss

I have an AE RTR T3 (electric) stadium truck. It has a P2k2 motor, a Novak C2 Cyclone ESC, and the original receiver. All of these components are approximately 5 or more years old, but have maybe 6 months of use on them. I recently dug the truck out of my garage to mess around with it again. I used some Nimh batteries that are as old as everything else on the truck. I only had a range of app. 10-20 feet of control and then the truck would stop. Sometimes when I walked closer to the truck it started rolling a few feet on its own. I put a new antenna in it since the old one was frayed. It was my first time soldering but it looked like I soldered it the same way it was before. I still have the range loss. What could be causing the range loss? Is it the oldness of everything, the antenna not done right, the crystals, the old batteries, the fact i'm driving in front of my house near other houses and electrical signals, or a combo of these things or something else? The radio is the original Lynx AM 27.045 MHZ. Thanks in advance for any replies.

I think you pretty much answered your own question there. I would bet the most likely problem is that your 5 your old transmitter betteries are pretty much done for. I'd try replacing those first cause I'd bet that's your problem and it's a cheap and easy fix.

Thanks for the reply. The problem was that when I soldered a new antenna on, some solder got on another part of the receiver. It was taken off and everything works fine now. Someday i'll update my R/C stuff with brushless and lipo, and a newer vehicle. I'll bash this around for now.
