Lipo balancing Question
I just got a reedy 5000 lipo used. I checked the balance with a Track power V-balance unit and it shows the #2 cell had more V than the #1 cell and now It appears to be "balancing" but how long will this take? Its had 3-4 hours total on the balancer yet its still doing the same thing... just blinking on the #2 cell. Im new to using a balancer. Ive had orion 4800's for almost 6 months now and they have always shown to be in balance without ever using a balancer when charging.
I dont have the correct plug to hook up to my charger. I plan to stop by the LHS to get a pigtail made so i can hook this up to my charger and do a balance charge. Maybe this will be faster? Any advice? thanks, |
Yes a balance charge will be faster

Got the pigtail I need and did a balance charge. It looked to me like the charger shut off before the cells were balanced. I use an orion Avionics charger and I had it set for 5a (1c). After about 30 minutes of charge I got an open circut error on the avionics. It didn't get to charge end like normal. I have the battery back on the balancer now. Any idea how long i should leave it on the balancer>? It was on at work for almost 8 hours today and it still reads as unbalanced.
Maybe learned the lesson of buying used batteries? |

Not familar with your charger, what kind of diff in cell voltage are you seeing? I use an 0610iNet hyperion and when it says balance is over, by the time you disconn everything, theres a small diff in voltages across the cells - maybe 3 or 4 mv, its not perfect.
