computer USB transmitter

Im planning a project to create a automated RC car. To do this i would need a RC transmitter which connects to the USB. I have thought of a number of ways to do this and not sure if any will work and would like some advice.

1) To get a 27.9 or a 40mhz transmitter, I cannot find any so thought i might need to build one.

2) To get a 2.4ghz transmitter and a 2.4ghz reciever and change the original reciever of the RC car.

3) Using a microcontroller such as a stamp, or a arduino board or phidgets board. (need to research on this more to understand if it is possible)

Has anyone done this before?

No he needs a transmitter to output signals through USB.

A stamp controller might work well...

So it receives via the USB or sends?

The Nomadio React can receive programming for its eeprom, but I am unsure if you could make it receive channel information as that is hardwired. It also has not developers kit for the interface, so you would be going at it blind.

the nomadio seems like the controller im looking for, with its RC desktop. Now it seems my system is complete. too bad its huge. ATM im planning to do this using micro controllers but im not too sure with the recieving end.

There is a usb transceiver at http://www.robotstorehk.com/rf/rf.html
Its a pair so im sure i can send data back and forth. Problem is the model side. Im not sure if i can just wire a micro controller right into the model. I would like to try this but it will cost me over about $200 for just the transceiver alone. Starting to wonder if this is worth it. Using this i think i can use the devasys usb i2c interface board to send data back to the computer such as camera and sensors.
