Yes, absolutely.

Dude just get the HW system you will not be disappointed. Or if you are still trying to decide come spring I will let you try mine out at Dirt Burners :D.

The simple fact that you stated seeing me next spring at DirtBurners is enough to convince me. Heck if it's good enough for a fellow racer I know I will be racing with at the same track then it's good enough for me!
That's gents:D

Just cut the two wires coming out of the esc, and solder you plugs on. It worked fine on mine.

See a friend tried the same thing, and the ESC didn't like it.

The one I have was HIS replacement that was warrantied and replaced with a new one.

I toyed with doing the "short" thing, but I wasn't sure if I could cheat and use a single 3s vs two 2s.

Oh well, its been crappy weather here to test it anyway, but I might try it this week.

I purchased a 3s 11.1v 5k lipo. and I wondered if it was possible to use the following adapter to make the ESC run 1 single Lipo rather than 2 2s lipo packs. Someone I know tried cutting the leads to make one, and had problems. I just wonder if the following adapter would allow me to use 1 lipo.

Sure it can work. An easier way is to plug your 3-S pack into one of the ESC plugs, and make a jumper out of a deans-plug (solder a short wire from one leg to the other), and plug that into the other ESC plug. I had my ESC set-up for two 2S packs when I first started running 1/8 brushless. Decided to try it on 3S, and did it that way.

And if your friend cut and soldered the leads and the ESC "didn't like it", he did it wrong. The ESC can't tell what wires are out there, only where the positive and negative are supposed to be.

Okay, so I've finally figured out what I want to run after doing some research but I need final opinions.... I was thinking of buying this
http://www.hobbypartz.com/07e-combo-m5a.html
a XERUN 150A 4168SD combo or a
Tekin RX8/2250kv combo
The XERUN is $209 with free shipping and the Tekin is $279 plus shipping.
Is it worth the extra $90 to go ahead and get the Tekin setup?
Combo will be going into my Hot Bodies Lightning Stadium Pro Truggy and I have a 4s and 5s lipo pack.....
I know the Tekin is pretty smooth which is why I picked it over the Mamba stuff but I was wondering how is the Hobbywing parts. I will be doing bashing and racing at DirtBurners in STL and FastLane RC in Kansas City. (4sOnly)

I run the same ESC but i have very poor brakes i finally got good brakes but i had to program immediate reverse but when i push trigger to reverse i brakes instantly but it goes to revers right the way so i had to on DX3R travel on reverse restrict to 20 and its pretty good.

Anyone else experiencing the same problem???

Kinda a known thing for hobby wing/ speed passion, use the programming box and set your reverse to 100%, than under your driver profile choose Forward/Brake after that you will have all the brake you need.

For some reason the ESC needs reverse set at 100% to have strong brakes even if you are not using reverse.

+1
I did the same thing, just took a spare deans plug and connected the ends, that way I always have the option if running 2x2s. Works fine for me

TURBO?

Hi could anyone tell me if this Xerun 120A has turbo or advanced timing feature on it. I saw 120A continuous and 760A burst, just wondering if this is the advanced timing/turbo function.

Cheers,
James

How are you guys getting your 1/8th xeruns to work on 2s lipos?

Do u have to change the cell detection to 2s using a 4s (whatever voltage comes stock) possibly?

I have the 150a and 4 pole tenshock 4000 sc401 non sensored

I'm at 0 timing, low punch and tried to set it to 2s

All on my friends LCD box

I get undriveable glitching and it jolts for a few seconds if I even slightly tap the throttle. I've tried calibrating to the transmitter several times

Using gens 5000 40c packs with non power hungry cheap hitec servo in a losi scte

xerun has turbo if you use the stock firmware, if you use the mod firmware, some settings are dissabled. you should have the Program box to be able to upgrade/change the version on your 120A.

Hey hobbywing esc experts.

I have a sct-pro 120a esc, that for some reason is giving me some brake delay when i go from full throttle to full brake.

Check this video out:
+ YouTube Video
ERROR: If you can see this, then YouTube is down or you don't have Flash installed.

Previous to this esc i had a HW SC8 esc, and i had the same problem. In between i ran a hobbyking 1/5,1/8 120a esc and did NOT have the problem.

My suspicion is that it's the rx that doesnt communicate well with the esc. Thoughts?

try to recalibrate your ESC/TX, and then try to check your EPA on your TX. you can also try to re-flash your firmware or set to default and check the brake strength of your ESC via prog card.

My 1/8 xerun does the same thing. It just not meant to work w/ 2s, I guess. Now that I think of it, I haven't tried to update it's software yet though. Maybe I'll try that and let you know.
