AM vs. FM

Just getting back into the hobby after a loooooong break. Looking at picking up a cheap radio for a 1/8 scale gas car/truck. What is the difference between am and fm? It seems like the am's are a bit cheaper. I know fm has more frequencies, is that it?

don't get a am radio if you like what your driving, glitching nightmare(atleast in my area with the interferance) Fm is much better and even better is a dsm radio, protect your cars/trucks and go dsm...
