Sphere Comp TC Spec vs. 2007 Edition
Any difference between the two? Seem to have pretty much the same specs however I'd like to know if any of the profiles are actually different?
|
So a quick search reveals than some AE factory boys use or have used the TC Spec for offroad, including Maifield. Not sure why though. But this leads me to think they are the same or the TC spec may even be better somehow (by virtue of it being the "pros" choice?).
|
tc-spec can handle 3.0 turns 2007 can only handle 4.5 turns max
it was in ad of xtreme rc cars magazine may 2008 issue page 13 |
The TC has bigger FET's...
I would get the normal 07 comp. though for off road 2wd. I have 3, smooth as butter. |
Sounds like bigger FETs to handle lower turns in TC spec. Oh and TC spec comes with a fan. Profiles, punch and brake, are the same?
|
More punch.
I dunno they really dont get hot in offroad apps. I wasn't running a heat sink on my spheres for a long time. But i run indoors, I put them on for the hell of it though after time. |
When they need more brakes they run the TC off road.
|
The official word from AE/LRP, only difference is the TC heatsink mounted to the FETs. No other difference.
Anyone know if the fan is removable? Do you just cut the leads or unsolder from board? |

When getting them repaired they didn't have any sphere comp's and they offered to send a tc instead for my friend and the tech said it has bigger fets and has more punch. That is true though that the heatsink is mounted to the fets. |
I was told TC for 4WD offroad and 2007 Comp for 2WD offroad.

The differences betweeen the "2007 Edition" (or earlier Sphere Competition) and the "TC-Spec" are actually quite big! All new hardware with revised circuitry, new PCB's, new fet's, new software. The actual technical data is not very much different, but internally there's a lot different...
|
Just read the first 6 pages of the post above. Not 100% sure but it sounds like there were some hardware changes but the software is common (i.e. same modes, profiles, etc.)
|
Bigger Fet's... LOL
Fet size is obviously the same, but #80750 has slightly better specs then #80700. |

Hello
Anyone know how tall the heatsink is on the TC spec? I've been told the heatsink on the Sphere '07 is 1.3 cm tall. Am I right? |
