Antenna Question!
Hi,
Currently I’m using Am receiver, therefore the receiver wire is about 50cm long. I wonder if there is any method that can make the antenna wire short without affecting the signal? This is because the antenna wire protrude out the bodyshell which I dun really like it! LOLZ! I do think of a method, which is coil up the antenna wire! Is this workable? Thanks! |
idoubleup the antenna over the outside of the tube, and secure it with a small peice of body tube, but i guess cutting it is possible. don't rush into it though, you have to work out the wavelength and the new length.

I would be very cautious about cutting the antenna wire. They are a certain length on purpose. If you must, find someone who can tune the radio system. Perhaps some of the older fly guys would know someone in your area. They could cut it in half and tune it to work reasonably well.
Best to coil it up, or run it up and down the car. |

If you coil it, you will lose range. Back in the day we used this trick to hide an antenna under a wide oval body. Cut a strip of lexan about the size of a ruler. Put holes on the outside edges in a diagonal pattern, and string the antenna through the holes. Bend the bottom in a way where it can be bolted or servo-taped to the chassis somewhere, and this will allow a full length antenna to fit under a body. I attached a pic of what it would look like. Or you could just buy a 2.4 ghz system. The antennas on those are only 6-8 inches long and can easily fit under a body.

Thanks guys for the reply!
I did want to coil the antenna up on a thin rod, so that it looks nicer haha! But looks like it will affect the range! I did saw some guys here using the Z method that u all have show me! Will think about it / try it out and see how! As for going to 2.4g, i think curently i wont change it, as im using Futaba 2pl where it does not come with the module de! Some more i have to use my 2pl Tz! lolzzz! Any other method i can try? Thanks! |
