Official Tekin FX series thread(tekin support)
I've started this thread for Fx and soon to be FX speedo users to post their setups and applications. Feel free to ask ?'s and I will answer them!
Rockcrawlers are having great success with the FX-R series. Awesome compression braking, smooth throttle and a real 6v 3amp BEC just for starters. Nevermind it's super small size making it perfect for the 2.2 crawler croud! Check out www.teamtekin.com for the list of recent Major wins including National Championships! The list is too long to list here! So come on guys, post you Fx setups! |
I think it is fair to start with a little bragging from some top drivers that was lost in other threads to get this rolling properly. Stock brushed is still here and the FX gets it done!

Its a very capable esc. I do believe there will be more adjustability to follow (accessible via hotwire) but at the moment, as you can see, its holding up great, and so will your comm ;) I doubt you'd be disappointed.

You forgot me in there too. I fixed the results in my quote.
I do not run for Tekin so I'm not being biased. The FX Pro is an awesome speedo. I'm very curious about the R1 when they finish the sensored version.

yeah there is no doubt that the FX and the FX PRO work well in stock
I think it has more flat out punch than any other speedo on the market. I have run the fx and also the pro in my TC on seperate occassions and they both have equal rip. but I think the pro can take a lower mod motor. jsut make sure when soldering the small capacitor to that it get mounted in a secure location. I race alot and the only problem I have had with the speedo was when the cap came off but I had it dangling around the car so it was pretty much my bad on that. I have even run the other mentioned and I can tell you there is no comparison. hope this helps Mo Denton |
I have been using the FXpro for 3 weeks. I set it up with all default setting programed to my DX3R transmitter. Past Saturday I ran 19 turn and added a little to the Push control.
1st week I qualified 3rd, I hit the inside wall in each heat. EDM stock A main http://www.bumpsandjumpsrc.com/results%203-8-08.htm 3/15 stock TQ and win, 3/22 TQ and win in 19 turn http://home.stny.rr.com/hbaker001/Results%20Page.htm I race 6 cell Dirt oval. Bob Mott |
Could you please tell us the benefits of current control and the effects of min to max. setting of that....(especially for 27T)
Cheers |
Can you tell us the advantage of HOTWIRE?
It seem to be able to do firmware update and store different profiles only. Any other advantage? |
Some of the advantages haven't been unlocked just yet. However one of my fav's will be the ability to swap profiles between users. You will have access to Jeff Cuffs's, Mike Dumas's, Mo Denton's, and other Team Tekin Facotry drivers. You can save your own profiles and swap back and forth without having to touch the buttons on the esc. Nevermind the fact that you're even able to "flash" our Tekin esc's, something that other esc's don't even offer. You esc will never need "uprading to the newest unit" just to get the "new" profile of the month.....

What about Ty, I sent the money today for the brushless system to
be sent back. Mailed it like 2 hours ago. Mail-man did pick it up. I ordered the Tekin system off of Tower Hobbies and mailed it to Tekin for repair. It's sad that I didnt even get to try it out because I sprayed Electric motor spray in the R1 pro, which caused it to shoot-up in flames after pluggin up a battery to it. But Ty should be sending me a new one in a few days. As he saw my terrible soldering job.:( I'm sure the Tekin Redline 362 motor is gonna be a beast in my B44. |
I think a post like this bmaglinger is best left in an e-mail. Ty's got one, I'm sure he's given it out.
I spoke to him the other day about your esc(now that I know who he was talking about) but they've had snowy weather there so bare with them. Shoot him an e-mail. Trying to keep this thread FX only ya know?;) |

Here's my 2wd offroad stock/19t buggy Fx set up:
Drag Brake: 1led(off) Nuetral Wi: 5led's Liminter : 11led's(off) Push Cont: 3led's Thro Profi: 3led's(linear) Volt Cuto : 1led(off) I'll post my 4 wheeler set up in a bit.... |
I found to like this setup in my TC, but I'm always changing it.
Drag Brake: 2led Neutral Wi: 4led Limiter: 11led Push Cont: 1led Thottle Pro: 3 Volt Cutoff : 2led (running 2S) Sometimes it's even fun to jack up the Throttle Profile, but you loose a lot of really low speed control, the motor will start at a higher RPM than with it more linear. |
We know it is fast and has a ton of features that are all easily adjustable right on the speedo. However, the most exciting is how often we hear that the comm and brush wear is excellent, motor temps are lower and the efficiency increase is noticeable. The rip speaks for itself.
I do not think most people understand the Push feature and that this eliminates the need to set creep. Push is creep that expires so you do not have to hold brake when staging. In fact if you do set creep the unit will not initilize the next time you turn it on because it does not see the nuetral you programmed it to. Also trying to reduce drag brake by trimming forward. Drag brakes are only active when the controller is in nuetral. If you trim fwd the controller sees throttle and does not engage drage brakes at all. You can reduce brake strength by reducing the epa, but trimming away from nuetral is never a good idea, that is old school stuff and not needed with Tekin products. Remember that all the Tekin products have a ton of diagnostics that tell you exactly what is going on. Is there a radio signal? Is it what I expect? Is the signal hi or low? Is the signal messy? How hot is the unit? Am I reaching full throttle? How delicate is my neutral width? The leds tell all! In all cases if you tell us what the lights are doing we can tell what is going on. No more guessing if the problems are receiver or radio. If anything it is too smart for its own good, but so user friendly that it is all very straight forward without needing the manual at the track. Tekin Prez |

We have the FX-R in a Kyosho Blizzard SnowCat and it does really well! 2S lipo with the stock 540 motor, it barely gets warm and has such smooth throttle. It's awesome for rock crawlers also, rccrawler is "crawling" with praises about the FX-R's capabilities in comp and trail rigs. |
im using ko propo vsf-1 competition at the moment, and im interested to try out the tekin fx pro. unfortunately its out of stock at my LHS but they do have the tekin fxR Pro in stock. i race in 19t and mod onroad, what is the real difference in both of them besides the specs.
and what kind of difference will i expect compared to my vsf-1 comp 2 thanks |
