Battery 'DC Input' for ICE
 

Just got my ICE today. Thought it had an AC plug. It only has a DC input. What type of DC Input do I need to get?

Generally a power supply. ~12-14 Volts, one ICE needs at least 10 Amps or so, depending on how/what you are charging.

Or you can charge off of a car or better yet deep cycle/trolling marine battery, using the large clips. Be careful with using your car battery though, today's RC batteries can run it down fairly quickly. Start your ride for a few minutes between packs.

Was about to post the same question so ill jump in on yours. Im in the same exact position is the power supply good enough ?????

I think so. Certainly for typical 1/10 packs, 6 cell nihm or 2s lipo, charged at 5 to 6 amps or so. I use two ICEs this way on a 20 amp supply, seems OK.

But if you're charging larger batteries at high rates, say 10 cells or 4s lipo at say 8 amps or higher, then I would recommend at least 15 amps or so for a safety margin. Or at least keep a close watch on the temperature of the 10 amp supply.

Might want to keep an eye on it when using it with the motor break in function...that is if you have brushed motors. I've yet to cross over to Brushless, but I'm assuming you don't need to break them in? Anyway, I think the manual says 15amp for motor break in. I could be wrong though.

I think the motor break in function only goes to 10 amps. I had to give up trying to use the ICE to drive a comm lathe. But then I gave up comm lathes!

Well i ended up getting a Pyramid heavy duty 20 AMP got it for $70 shipped heres a link if anyone else is looking quite a few people on RC Tech use them and have had no Problems.
