VSF programming? worth the time?
I've got a VSF1 pro for my 1/12 (modified) and a muchmore fleta (vsf based as well) esc for my 19t TC. im looking at improving my lap time for both of these class, im wondering if its worth spending the $80 in getting a adapter and a card to program the esc.
any idea from those who have these products? |
Programmer?
My opinion;
What program is on the ESCs you have? If some stock configuration, likely mod 12th scale could benefit from a better profile. This would require some testing as I have not seen a mod 12th scale program suggestion. As for the 19T, I used an 8T pavement profile on my 19T carpet then switched to 19T carpet profile. VERY little difference. More patience may have yielded more info but.. that is not my forte. These ESC are so good in my opinion, hard to imagine a huge jump in performance from where they are. There is no doubt that once you unlock the programming secrets of these speed controls you will be running better. The whole point of these esc's is that if you can figure out the best program for your application you will see a difference. You can change the frequencies to either give you more snap, more efficiency, more run time, etc. I had a few different programs I would play with depending on track, motor, traction, etc. There were some 19 turn profiles I would use that REQUIRED my best batteries as it would truly wring out everything the motor and batteries had, and others that would be very easy on the comms and let things flow. Definitiely worth the investment. Get the computer programmer if you can as you can really see the differences in what you are doing.
