Team Orion Advantage Charger with Lipo
Hi all,
recently switched to the orion Advantage Chargers from Muchmore CTX.
Just wondering what settings people are running when charging the latest IB4200's
anyone using flex / step charging?
im currently using normal charge:
5amp charge,
3m per cell peak
no repeak, no trickle.
cells are coming off HOT. Ive been told this is normal? true?

Most cells are cycled at 6 amps, so you should be fine. If runtime is not an issue, you can pull them off charge at 4200mAH. This is a good precaution and will make the cells last longer (going into the 4500mAH range is normal, but it can be hard on the cells ie: possible venting, especially if it is hot out.)
Also:
After your main, put about 2000mAH back into the pack (no need to discharge first). This will be fine until next race day. For the next race day, discharge pack to 5.4V, let cool, then equalize to .9V per cell. Charge within 1/2 hour.
Then sell the packs and get the Orion LiPo's

When I first got the pack, I did set the mAH to 4200's. If this dosent affect the cell peak, I think I'll go back to that instead.

I´m also using the same settings as you for ib4200 but with a tempcut at 40C. This should prevent the cells from becoming too hot and especially important with the troublesome WC cells.

Same here i have some perfect nimh and why lug the crap, Also i drove a nimh powered car the other day after useing lipos for about 6 track days and the punch just faded so quickly during practice. I now realise how dope lipos really are now. 2 batterys for 2 classes and practice Boiii. I also have 2 chargers so that speeds things up. Looking to get one more lipo, the checkpoint 5400.

is it normal for the cells to come off HOT HOT HOT ?
I have used ICE, Cellmaster prior to this.. the advantage charger seems to cook the cells comparing to the other two..
ive set my temp probe to max out at 48 degrees celcius. have dropped it to 40 degrees celcius... but Im afraid this will give me false peak as chances are the charge will be cut off by temp cut?
is this normal?
i charge in normal mode at 5amp (mod) 6amp (stock) and at 3mv peak.
is it the same for everyone?
