HYPERION ??? WHICH IS BETTER IN YOUR OPINION
hey all i am looking into getting a new charger and these have the price range and specs that i like am just wanting more opinions and statements to help decide which way to go.
http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...ducts_id/18361 this one for 140.00 is pretty hard to beat specially with built in power supply http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...ducts_id/18362 this one is pretty darn good to i have 2 power supplys already but the a/c-d/c version would be nice for packing and unpacking (convenient). 1 point of interest that i dont really understand between the 2 chargers is 50watt versus the 250 watt that is a huge difference but i honestly don't know what that means when i am charging my packs any input appreciated and if you have an alternate suggestion that is in the same price range put the link up here and let me know |
The difference is the charge rate you will be limited to. The 50W model will be limited to 6Amps maximum whereas the 250W model goes up to 10Amps. If you have high capacity lipo cells such as 8000mah you can charge these at 1C or 8Amps. You'll only be able to charge at 6amps with the 50W model which is not a problem. It will just take a bit longer. What kind of cells will you be charging?

The Hyperion is a good system. Another option is the Thunder Power 610C. It goes to 10 amps and 6 cells (14 ni-mh) with a built in balancer.

I love my 606. I mainly liked the built in power supply when comparing the cost to the other unit, it just didn't seem worth the extra price for what I needed.

amps x volts=watts so the 606i will be good for 6amps on a 2s or 6cell nimh pack. if charging larger packs you will have to charge at lower amps. if you are running 10th scale and using 2s the 606i will be fine, if you plan on running 3s or higher I would get the 610i.
I actually have the 610i and a 1210i and they are great chargers. I went with them because I run a converted 8th scale on 5s. I am also thinking of picking up the 606 for when I run indoor 10th scale, so I wont have to carry around the power supply. |
amps x volts=watts so the 606i will be good for 6amps on a 2s or 6cell nimh pack but on a 6s pack you could only charge at 2amps(50watts / peak voltage 25.2volts on a 6s pack). So if you are using a 2s of 6nimh cells I would get the 606i but if you are going to run bigger packs I would get the 610i.
