Spektrum or Mamba max problem?

I recently upgraded my radio from a spektrum 2.0 with mamba max esc to a airtronics m8 w/spektrum module. Everything worked fine before but now it takes about 3 minutes to initialize my esc, the steering works but I get no throttle control until I wait 3 minutes. I tried it with my friends m8 and experienced the same problem.

doses anyone know how to fix this or should I just sell the airtronics m8? I am currently using firmware 1.09 on my mamba and when I upgraded to 1.17 it made things worst, there was no throttle.

seems weird how it worked fine with the dx2.0 and when I went to airtronics I got this problem

thank you

There's a new "Arming Time adjustment" feature that allows spread spectrum receivers time to synch before the ESC becomes armed in the latest firmware releases. Maybe the ESC is arming before the synch and that is causing the longer delay. I'm not sure if you can stick program that feature but I did see it in the Castle Link application.

I saw it on there version 1.17 but what do I set it to. I set it to the lowest and my esc just sat there and never fired up

I don't think that will fix the issue. with the receiver I am working with, for some reason regardless of how I set the arm time, sometimes it will connect fine, sometimes it will sit for a long while then connect.

All the while, the receiver will allow me to power the steering servo no problem.

I have found that if I shut off the transmitter, plug in the battery, then turn on the transmitter, it works fine.

My other system with the spektrum receiver has the latest software and has no issues.

I am going to try the receiver on the other MM to see how it goes on there.

I was actually thinking you would want to go the other direction. Increase the arming delay. Maybe try out the longest delay setting. If the longest delay setting doesn't work then additional tweaking on this setting may not help your issue. If that actually does works out for you, then you could start experimenting with shorter delay durations.

I hate to ask, but did you re-calibrate your transmitter after you upgraded the firmware? That could be your problem.

Any changes and I believe you have to recalibrate the esc and tx.

Ok, I finally got to try my tests. Bear in mind though my second esc uses an external BEC which I think may be why that one doesn't fail at all.

1. Rebind SR3500 to MM ESC where the problem is occurring.

NO CHANGE

2. Connect SR3500 to other MM ESC that works fine with SR3000 receiver

It worked fine

3. Connect the new MM ESC I have that shows the issue to the SR3000 reciever and test

The problem showed up

4. Put fresh batteries in the transmitter and see if that helps

NO CHANGE

5. Check connectors on new MM ESC and see if there is an issue (your buddy had poor solder joints for the motor wires, maybe that is part of it for the deans plug?)

Connectors appeared to be fine

So, and this was posted on another thread but I gave it a try prior, looking at how it was just ticking away, I decide to do the setup process to see if that was what it was waiting for. Once I did this, it worked fine. Each receiver booted up, and even would boot at 1 sec interval or 5 sec. Didn't matter. What I am curious about though is that it was said that if you change settings, you need to reconfigure the ESC. I went back and changed a few things, but it still booted up fine. So I am not sure why it needed to be reconfigured then. Seems like it just forgot a setting.

But it works fine now.

The way I understand it. ANY updates, changes, etc, you have to start from square one and do the complete setup procedure.

Thats good to know. I'll keep that in mind. For my testing though, so changes didn't require anything to be reset.

Would be cool to know which ones will force this.

did you figure out the problem, or should I just live with it or go back to my spektrum tx? I tried both my sr3000 and sr3001 receivers and still same problem, should I mess with he mamba pc setings? just weird how it worked fine on the spektrum and on the airtronics it freaks out

Due the radio calibration setting again. With it just sitting there, I think that is what is waiting for, at least, that is what I did on mine and it worked fine now.

sorry for being not so smart but what is the radio calibration setting ? I guess I am getting confused trying all these things.

Hi I posted this in another MM thread but I turned on my MM esc and it did not make any noise. The LEDs looked like it was arming normally but when I hit the throttle, the motor completely cogs up. I have the same issue with a sidewinder esc and I called Castle about this issue and the tech guy had no clue. Was wondering if anyone had any ideas. Thanks in advance.

Edit: Nevermind just fix it. Had to move around some phases on the motor and it somehow fixed itself. Thanks either way.

thats good that everything worked out
