First brushless system?
I'm ready to make the jump into the brushless world, but my question is, which one? Its going into an rc10t4, and i'll mainly be bashing. I'm looking at either the Mamba Max or Novak xbr sport system. What does everyone recommend? I'll be running nimh cells for now. Thanks for the input.

What motor would you recommend for a t4, the 4600 or the 5700? How would I be able to run the castle link?

You would need to purchase the Castle Link interface, which is a cable that has a USB connector on one end, some electronics in the middle and another connector that attaches to the receiver lead on the Sidewinder ESC. The software you download from Castle Creations and run on a PC. If you can't use Castle Link you can still adjust ESC settings through your transmitter.
******* If you've got 6-8 cell NiMH packs (or even if you had 2S LiPo) then the 5700 will be faster on those batteries. However if you came across a 3S LiPo you are not supposed to run that with the Sidewinder/5700 because it exceeds the specs of that combo. You can run the Sidewinder/4600 on 3S LiPo and that will be faster than the 5700 on 2S LiPo. This of course just takes speed and budget into consideration. I don't know how these two motors feel and compare around big and small race tracks. |
You can't beat the Castle Sidewinder 5700 combo for 130 bucks. It is unmatched by any company right now in its price range and then add being able to either adjust it on the computer or manually puts it in a class by itself. I race the Sidewinder 5700 combo every week in my 2wd buggy and it is smooth and plenty fast enough thats for sure.

Thanks for the input everyone, I think i'll go with the Sidewinder 5700 combo and a Castle link setup.
