Radio Steering Wheels
I have the new DX3R spektrum radio. But I would like to change the steering wheel. Do Futaba or KO wheels fit? The current wheel is a little flimsy. But the steering mech seems solid. I think a better wheel will improve the feel. Thanks.

Do what I do...stick a TC wheel over top of the stock one:sneaky:

That doesn't solve the problem though. The original wheel is still on the radio. So it will still be flimsy. Maybe I'll just mod an Airtronics wheel. It will almost fit if I dremel it out a little.

DX3R Wheel
I took the foam off and put a Kimbrough "no slip grip" on. I had to put a layer of servo tape on the wheel then install the grip. I took the Grip off a KO radio those wheels are big.

I read where you were looking for the same info Mac. I guess no body really knows for sure. I may just end up buying an after market M11 wheel. It may barely fit. But I would have to slightly mod the DX3R steering mech to fit it on. Both the M11 and DX3R have a 7mm square hub on the radio. However the DX3R unit has small raised lines on the hub to prevent the M11 wheel from sliding down on it. Just a small dremel job to flatten the lines, and there ya go!

Maybe i will buy the M11 wheel adapter of this brand i've shown before and try to do the similar. But i am little worried will cause some unfit. |
I'll buy an aftermarket wheel and find out. I would run my MX3 momo wheel. But the offset will not work. My M11 radio has the right offset. I guess that's why MX3 wheels are not compatible with M11/M8 wheels. I'll see if the local hobby shop has any wheels. If not, gonna order one. So maybe in about a week I should know for sure. Plus I emailed Spektrum with some questions. One of which was wheel fitment. So we'll see how long it takes for them to answer. :tire:

I asked already this question somebody so much time before, then told me to try the Dynamite ones for JR, but i prefer more the original 1 than that from aftermarket because i don't like its shape and colour. http://search.horizonrc.com/index.js...000&N=589+5525 But i have other problem, which TX bag fit it, that ones on the market are so big. I am looking for the shoes bag will fit it, could somebody confirm if worth, please? |
Hmmmm, thanks for the link. I'm not a big fan of the design. But I may give one of those JR one's a try. I can have my local hobby shop order one for me. I thought of JR radio wheels. But I rarely see any custom wheels for them anymore. Anyways, I will tell them tomorrow to order me one. I think my concern is more of fit and feel. Rather than looks. The DX3R is a nice radio. I'm just not digging the flimsy wheel. I guess I'm just spoiled by the quality of Sanwa and Futaba radio's.
I'm gonna have to look into a radio box/bag too. Maybe it'll fit in a lunch box?? haha |

But i don't think is worthy to carry a voluptous box with lot of another kinds on the trip until the race site, let's make me so troublesome and tired. |

Thanks:blush: I did the same for my DX3. The extra width of the TC wheel give a much better feel. I actually think I drive better with it on:weird:

FOXY, How ya do that? Did you put the wheel attached within radio steering by superglue?
On the M8 I removed the stock foam and slid the TC wheel over top. I had to use Shoe Goo to keep it in place. The screw was placed between the TC wheel & stock steering wheel so the whole unit could be secured to the radio. |
