Older ESC question.
Ok guys I am so outta date its not even funny. I am thinking of going with a Lipo set up but I am curious as to if the ESC I have is ok to run LIPO with. It is an older novak cyclone. The one with the one push button setting device. I was thinking of getting one of the 3200 carbon lipo's since they are fairly cheap now. I am just wondering if there is any reason I wouldn't be able to use this battery?

Good to go. I am using an Atom from novak
When your car slows down stop and recharge |
You can also add on a Novak LiPo cutoff too just to make sure you don[t over-discharge it.

Ok good deal. I will solder up some new wires and roll out. I guess the other ? is what is the best lipo charger for the money? I no longer have a power supply so I would need one that is all inclusive. I saw one made by hyperion a 6 series. Is there one better?

Hell yeah! Cyclone and Atom all the way! I still used them up until a year ago. I switched to the KO Propo VFS-1 series and now own 4 of them. Never going back. Let's hope KO comes out with BL, then maybe I'll think of switching... :ha:
But really, you can use it, just get a voltage cut-off from Novak or Futaba. $20 worth of insurance for your $120 batteries. Not a bad trade off I may say... ;) |

Otherwise get a duratrax ice or pulsar 3 if you still have brushed motors and nimh /nicd battery's Orion/Peak lipos dont need balancing but you can if you wanna. |
Can Novak Atom handle 2s LiPo? The stock specs indicate 4-6 cells but I'd like to know if anyone uses 2s LiPo without blowing it up. Thanks
|
Maximum electromotive force per cell ni-cd is 1.3vdc.
By theory the Atom esc technically needs to handle 7.8-8.0vdc. Not sure a on NiMh with the atom, never tested that on a atom thou pushed the limits on my tempest |
