Speedo mounting?
I have been having trouble with my esc coming out, I`ve tried velcro and double sided tape. Its a mamba max in a T4, any ideas would be great.
|
I use double sided tape, as do most members at our club. Not had a speedo fall out.
Make sure to use proper foam servo tape, not carpet tape. Clean the bottom of the speedo and the chassis with alcohol before fitting the tape. The tape won't stick properly if it's dusty or greasy. Make sure that the motor and battery wires have some slack, and fix them to the chassis with zip ties if possible. |
If you can find exterior mounting tape it comes off a lot easier than foam servo tape. It won't tear when you remove it, but it holds just as well if not better than the foam servo tape.
I usually make my wife get it, because I hate Walmart and that's the cheapest place I've found it. Make sure you clean the chassis and ESC with some alcohol before you stick everything down. (like he^ said) |
The easiest way to remove servo tape is to heat it up with a hair dryer. That will soften up the glue and the component will peel off and the tape can be rolled off using your fingers or thumb.

I just like not having to deal with the foam. The vinyl backing stuff always peels right off.

I USE THE SCOTCH -3M- WHITE FOAM IT NEVER FALLS OUT, AND I USE 2 LAYERS AS THAT MAKES A BETTER CUSION FOR ELECTRONICS ; AND TRUST ME WITH MY WHEEL SKILLS IT IS NEEDED;;; LOL ;;; YES IT IS A SLIGHT PAIN TO GET OUT BUT I DON WANT TO TAKE OUT I WANT IT TO STAY IN SO THAT IS MY TAKE.......
WHEELS DOWN AND MOTOR TO THE REAR |
MIP servo tape...Excellent.
|
Use some Shoe Goo. It takes a few hours to set up but is basically rubber cement. It will give enough vibration protection and won't come off without force!
|
I use normal double sided tape and clean the area with motor spray prior to applying the tape. Never had a problem.
|
I actually got double sided foam tape from Radio Shack because I was there, and needed some double sided tape anyways (to tell you the truth I wanted to make foam tires for my 1:28 scale...)
This stuff has a GREAT amount of hold, but with constant pressure, it will come off. Also rolls off after some rubbing. |
ok, I guess I`ll have to try some stuff I`ve been using the 3m stuff but the surfaces werent cleaned so before I go buy stuff i`ll try it again after i clean it, thanks.
