PITBULL vs INDI908,512 vs ICE vs CHECKPOINT

what is the best battery charger for charging match packs 2/3 cells for m18 & rc18. any others chargers should i look at??

twan 11-15-2007 06:21 PM

anyone?????

Of those chargers I have the ICE. I like it. I don't think the extras that the checkpoint has are worth the extra $$. I think all the listed chargers should be more than capable of charging your batts, and any batts you may have in the future. Also, did you consider the Pulsar 3? I hear that's a good charger too.

I just don't like indy chargers, I had one. I sold it and got a Comp Electronics Turbo 35 GFX. Awesome charger, expensive tho. I don't think anyone makes a better one.:tire::tire::nod: I know I love mine.

what didn't you like abot the indi??

twan 11-16-2007 05:31 PM

i dont hear people talking about the pulsar much. i like the gfx alot but alot of money. i was thinking about a older one like turbo 35 or turbo 30. but i might just go with the ice

The indy was not polished... What I mean is sometimes after charging one battery the mAh counter would not reset and while you were charging the other one you'd glance over at it and it would be at some ridiculous number like 6850 and you're charging 3800's. Plus it was not so reliable. I had times where it would not charge a battery after just discharging another battery. I had to unplug it and replug it in several times before it would clear the error and charge the battery. Between qualifiers there's no time for that crap. Plus it had two cooling fans which were extremely noisey. I'm sure they were necessary but I didn't like it. The dyno feature was cheesy compared to like say the APS charger's dyno feature. The indy holds your motor with a rubber bushing. Only it doesn't do a good job so you have to hold it steady. Again while racing you don't have time for that crap you need to be truing a tire, cutting a com or rebuilding a shock or whatever anything but holding on to the motor. Hope this helps.:)

I work at a hobby shop. Every Indy charger we've sold came back as defective.

ok no indi. i like the checkpoint & ice but like the gfx or the turbo35. i can get the 35 for $140. is that a good price for a used but good 35??

magm20001 11-17-2007 01:21 PM

later on your prob going to need a lipo charger so go with the checkpoint or ice. depend on your budget

Warhawk 1 11-17-2007 02:57 PM

140 is a great price provided its in good shape... Send it in to CE to get the lipo mod and firmware update ($50). I'm sure the ice and checkpoint chargers are nice... But they aren't the machine that a Turbo 35 GFX. Just my opinion:)
