Micro Transponder for AMBrc / AMBrc3

1 Attachment(s)
Following requests from both mini/micro scale and indoor racers the new micro size PTX 'HS' (heatshrink) personal transponder for AMBrc / AMBrc3 autocount systems is soon to be released. There are to be cloned (from existing ID#) and custom (personal ID#) versions available so anyone can have a PT at an affordable price.

Note: not for outdoor use - ** NOT waterproofed!! **

Size comparison with AMBrc PT and MRT PTX

What voltage range will it work with?

Terry_S 10-30-2007 08:39 AM

The voltage range is 2.8V to 30V DC, power consumption is approx 7.5mA at 6V DC (less than half of the AMB PT) - it's the same power specifications as the existing PTX.

Details for the existing PTX are at http://www.rclaps.com for technical specs click 'More Info'.

oh wow so I can run one in the mini. NIce.

Are the leads such on the HS version that the point where the lead attaches to the PCB is accesible (aside from cutting the shrinkwrap off?)

Terry_S 10-31-2007 07:19 AM

Hi Andrew, you'd need to cut the heatshrink off to change the lead, easy to do and just replace the heatshrink after. Hopefully leads don't need replacing too often, if it's needed it can be done unlike a normal PT.

Hi Terry I sent you PM

Thanks

Hi Harg, for a cloned number yes must be sent in (first time) and for a PTX with PID# no.

So would you say then a Y harness from the Micro-T battery would be a possibility for 1/36th stock electronics?

It be should be ok assuming it's 4.8V and the voltage stays above 2.8V (the minimum PTX operating voltage is 2.8V).

For those that asked me to let them know any news..

The new PTX versions which includes the micro-size 'shrink' PTX are out plus we also have a new cool purple LED custom option!

FYI there's currently a discount price offer and free shipping!!

How do these mini/micro transponders compare to the AMB DPs in terms of signal strength and range in relation to the loop?

I need to get a transponder for my 10th scale and these seem like a good option given the decreased cost assuming they are functionally equivalent to the DP models.

Ed Anderson 12-17-2007 10:26 AM

According to my race program, the signal strength is a little stonger but the amount of "hits" is a lot more.

I've been running a micro series on Monday nights. Because the loop is in the deck and it runs to the center of the floor, we have to offset the track (oval) so the cars don't pickup on the backstretch. We set up the track with a house transponder, and haven't had any probems with Pt's, iPT's, or PTX's having to strong a signal on the BS.

Working fine here!
