thats a great idea and without getting into a component level discussion thats all you really need. Losi is too large of a comapany to put out a product like that and it not work properly.

I just used the Losi Li-Po converter last night with my Tekin BC-112 and a Common Sense RC Ultra balancer. This combination worked well on a 7.4v 2100mah Common Sense pack for my M18 Pro. However, I don't think I'll ever be able to reach peak voltage and maybe not peak Mah. The first charge of the battery yielded a voltage of 8.32 (peak would be atleast 8.4v) and only 1920mah. I will eventaully update my charger to a Hyperion or a BC-6, but for now I have an AC/DC charger that I can charge any battery that is currently availble. I think it's a pretty good deal for $35 and the cost of a balancer....if you choose to use one.

Copied from the Horizon Hobby Website:

Lithium Charge Converter
Key Features

* This is NOT a charger! This is to be used with your existing "Approved" charger
* Eliminates the need to buy a Lithium charger
* Extends the investment of a currently owned charger
* Easier to pack and carry than a second charger
* Will accomidate up to a 6-cell LiPo or 8-cell M1 Li-Ion
* LED indicator for configuration and cell settings

Overview

The Lithium Charge Converter will allow you to charge a Lithium battery with a charger you probably already own. Just plug a Lithium battery into the charge converter, select the cell type and confirm the number of cells, adjust the charger to the correct output, plug it into the charger and start charging! The converter allows you to use a nickel-based charger to charge Lithium-based batteries. No need to buy an expensive LiPo charger.

I think I'm glad I didn't buy one. I have the ICE and soon the Hyperion 1210i. I also have a MRC 959 that I was willing to break just to see what happens. I rarely use it anymore. But it did come in handy last weekend when a new kid couldn't get his batteries charged on his Dynamite charger.

Here's the REAL bit of disappointment...hidden in the "Specifications" section:

"Provides a charge of 90%"

Link to instructions/specs on the Losi site:

http://www.losi.com/ProdInfo/Files/L...tion-Sheet.pdf

Oddly enough, I was looking at this as an option to use the chargers I already have in my fitted race case (in my case "approved" Millennium Pros) to charge my Losi LiPo transmitter pack in my M11. The Losi literature re: this battery is to not discharge it below 11.1v which when I called to ask was told that this is the 90% charge point. Guess that means it won't work.

When I am ready to make the Lipo jump, I will just buy the correct charger/balancer.

i have to say i was not a big fan they play it up that it will work with the charger that you have. then you get it and there are tags all over it saying only use with this charger and only these batterys, and you don't have any of the chargers on the list.

Imho, sounds like it is more of a standby product to have as a spare if your lipo charger stops working and you need a quick fix, I wouldnt buy one for "racing" and I guess for the price it wasnt really designed to be a race ready charger.

Could be a good back up though
