Power supply for TLR starter box
Hello,
I was wondering if anyone has made an AC power adapter/transformer to supply power to a TLR starter box using the banana plug connections. I am thinking a 110v input to 12v 10A output would work - not sure. If anyone has done this, can you share what items you used to fabricate it. I have not found a premade solution for sale. I am using the box to start a Novarossi Rex 7 Legend motor. Thank you, Mike |
You do need much more than 10A. Look around for a server power supply, the HP ones can deliver at least 50A and you can get them for just 20 to 40 dollar. You only need to solder a bridge or a resistor and 2 plugs to it.
Here a list of instructions for all kinds of server PSU's How to convert Server Power Supplies - RC Groups But why not a simple battery? Or if you have a real car just make some extension leasd to connect your box to the car battery. |
Thank you for the information. I am looking for a power supply to eliminate the need of charging my (2) 5000mA batteries. You mentioned a HP 50A unit - is there risk of tripping breakers or will the starter box only pull 10-15A current. I am not sure what power supply current will work best. I saw this one recently...
