Motor not starting
 

Hey,

I have a Maclan M32t esc and it won't get my motors spinning unless I manually get it spinning then the motor works perfectly. As soon as it stops it won't get going again. I've had three motors (2x17.5's and 1x6.5) the 6.5 is better and starts some times. I've also tried two sensor wires. Is there a problem with my ESC or am I missing something stupid!

Check the sensor wire.

Sounds like a sensor issue or possibly a bad ESC setting. Try recalibrating the ESC, checking sensor port connections, and testing with sensorless mode to see if it behaves differently.

Sounds like it might be a bad sensor board on the ESC, sounds like it's time to swap out with a known good ESC, more info here:

I had the exact same issue with my Maclan 5.5turn. Tried different sensor wires. I put a new motor in and fixed it, so probably a bad motor sensor. Are these worth fixing, or trash them?

Probably not if you did read the startpost well.....

I meant that my issue was the Maclan motor. Sorry if I misread the original post.

With most motors you can buy the sensor plate as a part.

You can contact Maclan and find out what the sensor board costs and that can be replaced by yourself. Specify which wind/model motor you have when asking for the board.

Turns out I was mistaken. My intermittent issue was that the sensor cable was not clicking in to the ESC and would pop out. Multiple cables did this, so it seems to be a sensor connector issue.

Yep...make sure it's shoved in all the way.

As an update, I'm waiting for inventory for the REDs Racing 17.5 VX4 Pro Stock motor. Right now, they are sold out. I'm still tossing around what other motor to test right now.

Hey, sounds like a sensor-related issue if it only starts with a manual push. Since you’ve tried multiple motors and sensor wires, I’d inspect the ESC sensor port for bent pins or poor contact.

Make sure your ESC is set to sensored mode and recalibrate your throttle just in case,it can make a difference. Also, a firmware reset might help if it’s a glitch.

If none of that works, the ESC’s sensor circuit might be faulty. Might be worth reaching out to Maclan for a check or possible replacement.
