Throttle not responding
 

Hi

I have a tamiya rallycar with a hobbywing 10bl60 and a futabareciever. Yesterday it starten loosing throttle when I drove. Today I tried again but same thing, its like if I get it running and always keep a bit of throttle its fine but If it loses connection it takes a while to get it back. Steering works perfectly. You think its The reciever? Esc?

Looks like your forward is on a brake function. Dit it work perfect before and did you change something or took it apart before it this happened?

No didnt change anything. It got a bit wet yesterday thou, a lot of snow that got inside and reciever was totalt covered.

I need to add that when im holding the car in my hand and hit the throttle several times nothing happens but when I put the car on the fluor, some resitance on the wheels it start spinning after a couple of tries.

Water is bad for receiver. Buy a new receiver.

Before buying a new receiver:

Open the Futaba receiver case from the two clips at the side. Dry the board, case, and reassemble. Unless saltwater got in, it should be fine.

Is there a chance you are running NiMh batteries in Lipo mode? You could be under the voltage drop threshold, which would explain steering working, but not throttle. As you are running in the snow, battery temperature could also play a role.

I would suspect a battery issue before the receiver. Double check the battery cables and connection.

In 99% of all cases of water cleaning the PCB with alcohol and a brush will help.

I tried a new reciever now but with the same result. With my experience I cant see anything wrong with cables. But I say that I cant get it running by holding the car up in thw air but with force against the tires after a couple of tries the wheels spinning. And as I said, it works perfectly as long as I keep just a bit of throttle.

A lot of times a wet receiver or esc will start working again once it dries out. I'd try putting a fan blowing on the chassis w/o the body overnight and try again in the morning. Might get lucky. I quit running my stuff when it's wet out. Snow is water , so....

I had my Arrma have the same issue. Water got into the ESC.
One thing that kinda confuses me is I have a Redcat crawler that when it gets wet, I have the issue, then I dry it all off and drive it the next day no issues. My luck will probably run out though lol.
Roelof, what’s PCB? Also very interesting. I’ll have to try that out. By Alcohol, you mean like normal rubbing alcohol?

PCB - Printed Circuit Board. The internals of the receiver or ESC.

Isopropyl alcohol is the best choice here.

You say the steering works normally, that tells me TX communicating RX, binding is fine. it became glitchy. and lost its memory.. Redo you Calibration on ESC, learning theb position of Throttle, Neutral, Full throttle, and Brake. Also reads where the brushless motor bwhere is at. Hobbywing calibration procedure. Electronic and water dont mix. Us Nitro guys leaned how to waterproof our RX by using a water balloon, zip ties and shrink tubing back in the mid '70 from fuel leakage.
