Help identifying This ESC
Need help identifying this brushed LRP esc.
I am trying to build back my old buggy back to the way I raced it years back. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rct...8722bd16e0.png https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rct...6f29821914.png |
I can identify the camera, it is a crappy one!
Man, so some learning of how to take pictures. |

Regarding the wires it is a brushed forward/brake esc. It could be an LRP regarding the blue/red colors. No way for a better picture?

And what exactly is your plan if someone could identify the exact model (not very likely, TBH)? It's probably long out of production by now and not sitting on many shelves in any shops either. Would a modern brushed ESC not work as well?

Yes they are, Hobbywing has 2 models as also on Ebay, Banggoog, Aliexpress etc you can find loads of them.

Not sure what kind of ESC that is, but it looks to use what is referred to as "Fuzzy Logic." :D
|
Prrrfff... nostalgia before functionality.....
Once on a Dutch forum a guy was restoring an old Tamiya and was searching for exact the same capacitors with the exact printed numbers that were soldered on the original motor he had pics of. Any difference was not good, good luck with finding one with the right date stamp. |
LRP Quantum Pro Sport. I had one way back. Picked it up pretty cheap. I can't remember if it was late 90's or early 2000. Either way, I quickly swapped it out for a Tekin. It worked great, but I was a Tekin fan.

I won a race with that esc.. I was always a Novak fan. I mostly ran the cyclone for years. But a used Novak is pricey.. was just wanting to fix up my old buggy.. thanks for the help.
It was a good ESC. I bought it for $75 and sold it for $85, if I remember right. I then purchased a Tekin G10 Pro. What buggy are you fixing up? |

I get that you want to fix up the old buggy again, but why not simply use a current model brushed ESC for that?

LRP went out of business for a reason, I ditched the brand after getting burned too many times where the ESC failed to calibrate mysteriously right before a race, I'm having nightmares seeing this ESC again!

because that is what I used back then.. I already have everything except a ESC.
I get that you're an old school fan - I'm one myself; I still have a mini rage, FXR and a Novak GT7. But, if I were you, I'd get one of the current brushless systems. You can get it to feel exactly like your old stuff and you won't have to spend a frickin eternity on eBay hunting your old stuff down and paying a stupid high shipping charge. I think the hobbywing quickrun brushed ESC is good, but I wouldn't know - I blew mine up by plugging it in backwards in a rush. 😅 |
Looks like an LRP Quantum comp 2

I know absolutely nothing about brushless stuff.. I haven’t the first clue what to even look for.. I even remember when Nimh was the newest and hot thing lol.

Sensored gives a smoother controll and for racing a must for the racer and by the rules. For some bashing sensorless will work fine and is cheaper to get.
Thanks for the info. I will look into the brushless setup. |
