ESC and throttle trim
Installed a new ESC today. The old one was a 35 amp 3n1. Installed new esc with bec and receiver 45 amp. Brushless if that matters. When I turned it on it beeped fast and wouldn't initialize until I turned the throttle trim down and it seems I can't get full throttle. No way to calibrate it. Radio is a BER-TRC1 and ESC is a VGEBY 45 amp V2.3. It's cheap stuff I know but it makes no sense. ESC took setting from the programming card fine. I only changed the start mode to a higher level.

Not familiar with the ESC, but nearly every ESC I know of now requires calibration the first time out of the box to set throttle, neutral and break points. The rapid blinking is using the first programming mode followed by throttle input and acknowledging it on the ESC.
I recommend checking the manual and going through calibration. |
You might need to reverse throttle on your transmitter.

This esc is probably going in the trash. It's one of the cheap blue ones from Amazon that says v2.3 on the side. I can get it to work but no matter how much I change settings with the programming card I literally have to push the car to get it to go.

Changed ESC. Read Manual on Calibrating ESC Should handle the problem.

Calibration will learn the ESC the centre and both end points. But if you like to throw away money I can give you the number of my bank account. |
Send that copy of a copy ESC thing back. The ESC that you got has no SETUP button. It just looks for a neutral signal and that's it. There is no way to calibrate anything on the one you got. I ordered one by mistake thinking it was a TSKY.

They are fine for general 1/10 scale use. I certainly wouldn't use one on a 1/8 scale RC like some of the descriptions suggest. |
Would they happen to make a 45 amp. The 120 would most likely be hard to fit in there.

Didn't know that. I figured the more amps the bigger. That link says it is a sensored ESC as well.

Got another esc in today I'm gonna try. If it doesn't work out I'll try that one. Was just trying to stay cheap since the car is cheap and see what I can build a 50 or so mph 1/16 truck for. Basically just messing around for fun. Working on them is a lot of the fun. I'll probably spend what a 1/16 E Revo costs from trying different things but once I figure it out I can build a good 1/16 for half the price. That's the fun of it. The little JJRC Q117/SCY 16101 brushless trucks are super durable. Even put some diff oil in and somewhat sealed the diffs to see what happens. RC is about trying things and when they work it is fun. When they don't you get mad as hell cause you wasted money but it was still fun to try lol. I got a Fly Color 45A esc to try. I'm sure it's a rebranded something and probably has 500 other names lol. About to go try it now and see what happens. I did get a refund for the other ESC though as it was unusable.
