12v Distribution Box
Good morning all.
Looking at building a small power distribution box. So here’s what I have vs what one thinking - HP 1200w server power supply for source - EC5 90degree connector. Drill small holes in pcb and solder around. This way I have contact with both sides of the output - EC5 connector with 10 awg cable to “distribution” box - 2x Busbars inside box and 5mm bullets. my only issue is trying to find clean surface mount bullet connectors. Ideally I want to use as little cable as possible in the box and try to do a direct bolted connection to the busbars. However I seem to be only find 4mm ones. it will be powering - icharger Dx6 duo - tyre warmers - maybe a soldering station does anyone know of some good quality 5mm panel mount bullet connectors that I could order? |
most people solder the female bullets to the supply to make it easy:

Most accessories have 4mm plugs - tire heaters / tire sanders / soldering irons / chargers / ect.
You can buy a distribution block for $13 - https://www.rcjuice.com/skyrc-power-...ion-board.html |

Most supplies that I've seen use that method end up pulling the copper pad up from the PCB substrate. It's not very reliable.

I saw the muchmore one
don’t have enough posts to link yet but have made a plan I found some 90 degree EC5 connections that are solid on the end. Going to drill two small holes on the pcb and solder to both sides. Then run that EC5 to two copper busbars in a small box that I’ll insulate to prevent any chance of short. And then use panel mount XT connectors on the box to have a neat setup. Avoids pulling on the power supply. Still deciding if I’ll use bolted connections from the XT connectors to the busbars. just going to have to put XT connections on everything which is no biggy |
