Hobbywing app requires payment method?
 

I’m trying to update the app and it won’t let me until I enter a payment method - which I most certainly will never do. Is HW seriously trying to make the Wi-Fi app a subscription based service? Maybe it’s time to find another brand.

Android or iOS? I'm on Android and it tries to download a new version that's not on the Play Store, but Android blocks the installation of it.

I'm on the latest (2.1.3) on iOS and have never had to add any payment information. Exactly which app are you trying to install?

I also have the same version on the iPhone. I just ran the app today and updated my esc without having to make any type of payment.

I didn’t say I was trying to download the app and I didn’t say I was trying to update my ESC.

You said you were trying to update the app which implies downloading.

You weren’t the one that asked me what app I was downloading, so not sure why you’re replying for someone else. Although your initial reply did confirm the problem extends beyond my own experience, I am baffled by this reply which falls in line with the two previous replies - they’re completely out there in space.

I had a similar question once you said iOS, they just beat me to it. Apple tends to block apps that take 3rd party payments. Are you able to post a screenshot?

My experience was quite different, I never got asked for payment details. And now that I've double checked, they've finally uploaded the new version to the Play Store and my app got updated.

i think i enabled side loading to install the download outside of play to get rid of that.

I had sideload enabled. Android blocked it because it clashed with the existing install, it wouldn't do an in place upgrade. And I didn't want to uninstall it to avoid the clash, as last time I did that I lost the historical telemetry records.

How or what are you updating? Are you trying to update the app or the database? How are you trying to update it? Are you using V2 or the original app. What version are you currently running?
