Default Hobbywing Tunalyzer vs Gforce/SKYRC BL Motor Analyzer

I recently picked up a Hobbywing Tunalyzer as I have always been a bit unsure about the SKYRC BL motor analyzer.

I have compared them on a handful of motors and the result has been very mixed.

For example I have a new HW V10 G4 17.5t the reading was very different. I used the SykRC analyzer to set the timing to an AV of 45 deg with the actual reading of (45, 45, 46, 3205kV @ 5.2A). The Tunalyser read an average of 50 deg (49.8, 49.3, 50.9, 3307kV @5.12A). So on average it was out by nearly 5 deg. I lowered the timing by 5 deg and the reading was still out by an average of 5 deg). The end bell dev, rotor asymmetry, hall signal dev were all OK (0.5, 1.1, 1.4 deg respectively). Interestingly the can timing was spot on with the reading on the HW Tunalyzer.

I tested the same on a surpass v5r 21.5t, the result was out by around 2.5 deg, again with the SkyRC showing a more advanced timing. The theme continues.

Tekin Gen4 SpecR 21,5t (SkyRC read an average of 1 deg more advance)
Speedpass v4 10.5t (SkyR read an average of 5.1 deg more)
Fantom v3r 13.5t-2 (SkyRC read 3.9 deg more)
Fantom v3r 13.5t-1 (SkyRC read 3.2 deg more)
Fantom v2 7.5t (SkyRC read 2.5 deg LESS)
Fantom v2r 17.5t (SkyRC was within a deg)

Has anyone done any comparison between the SkyRC analyzer vs the Tunalyzer, or the Motolyser? Which one can I trust??

If the KV numbers, current numbers, and timing symmetry are inline then I wouldn't be too worried. The magnetic field distorts as the motor spins up, so the definition of true neutral is a bit fuzzy.

The earth isnt a perfect sphere and travelling through space at about 3 million kilometres per hour. The earth orbits the sun in a cyclic ellipse every 40-100000 years. ( hence ice age/melt) The precise wizardry and phenomena occurring inside the magnetic fields of your motor are beyond comprehension.
The data can be significantly altered depending on the input voltage. Motolyser V2 is the innovator and most accurate. Hobbywing is just a revised copy of that. Just use one if you have to , get some data of each motor and pack away.

So if you’re comparing timing on identical motors ask whether the results were from a Sky, HW, or Moto. Results from different brands (and possibly identical models) are meaningless.

Even comparing KV between 2 different SkyRC units can give quite different results.
