M17 issue

Hey all,

Just got a used m17. It’s in good shape but the steering telemetry says the steering is always fluctuating between 0-10ish even without any input, at neutral.

ant solutions.

Does it fluctuate only when both the car and the radio are on, or does it do it with just the radio on? It could be a jittery servo.

When mine had the same issue, it did it both with the receiver on and off. The receiver doesn't send feedback to the transmitter based on current position, so the servo won't be relevant here.

Try rebinding RX and TX, Remove ST servo from #1 slot. RX turned off. Turn on TX, make sure ST Trim at center position. Turn off TX. Follow your manual to Bind. LED on RX should blink rapidly. Turn off RX and TX. reinstall ST servo to #1 on RX. Turn on TX, then RX, Should center itselff and should operrate normally. Good Luck!

Steering pot is on its way out. Send to Serpent to re/re. Its a sealed unit soldered directly to a board. If anyone can find another source of these pots I’d be interested in buying a few.

I'm having the exact same issue. I thought it was my servo since its a couple of years old, so I bought new ones and they are doing the same. I tried swapping receivers, and finally I noticed in servo monitor that it just flutters around. I bought the Radio new almost 2 years ago. I hate to see what this is going to cost me :(

Suggest calibrating the radio. See page 98 of the manual.
System / Calibration / Steering

Calibration will reset the neutral point. It won't fix a fluctuating sensor.
