Which transmitter?
 

Hi people,

Am looking at upgrading my absima cr3p handset.

Budget around £150, but could stretch that if needed.

Current contenders:

Futaba 3PV
Sanwa MX-6

Please can anyone that has experience with both let me know which they prefer and why.

Also I’m all ears if there are others I should be considering.

I have 3PVs for my bashers and wouldn't hesitate to use them in a race car. All the adjustments you need and feel good in the hand.

Obvious "stretch" purchase is the 4PM.

I don't use Sanwa so couldn't comment. Both brands have solid reputations for quality.

With the MX6 there is a weird receiver. As a Futaba guy I also would advise a 3PV or maybe a 4PV
As a Sanwa the MT4 is a decent model with a normal receiver.

I agree. While I haven't personally used a Futaba radio in decades (and being a Sanwa user myself), I'm having a hard time recommending the MX6 (or previously the MX5), because of their receivers. The next better Sanwa radio is probably more expensive than what you what to spend. The Futaba 3PV should be fine.

So both my sons were running the Sanwa MX6 and had no issues unless there were 6 or 7 other guys running and then they would both randomly lose signal to the reciever and control of their cars. My oldest sons car actually lost signal on the straightaway at our local track and launched into the pits. My oldest switched to flysky noble and I bought my youngest son a sanwa mt4s and I run the new sanwa mt5 all with no issues.

Sanwa makes good radios, but the MX-6 is not one of them. I've seen a few people with glitching issues, and the receivers aren't compatible with any of the other Sanwa radios.

So, say budget wasn’t a factor….
 

The mx6 has almost definitely been removed from the shortlist!

perhaps my budget wasn’t enough, and it’s worth saving to get the right one. With this in mind, what would people recommend?

the noble is apparently quite good, but futaba and Sanwa seem to be the 2 names that keep cropping up.

I just can’t decide?!

ideally don’t want to be spending the earth on receivers, as I have quite a few models I’d like to use this new transmitter on. Needs to have good range as will be doing speed runs on occasion, and super responsive.

I'd even say Sanwa (along with Futaba and others) makes excellent radios, and I wholeheartedly recommend them - except for their low tier MX series (which aren't terrible, but far from what the brand usually stands for)..

Thanks for the advice. I went for a Sanwa m12s in the end. One was being sold locally at a good price, so slightly over budget, but I don’t think I’ll be disappointed 😄

Good radio. Had one for a couple of years. It's just quite heavy compared to others, but performance-wise a more than solid radio. :nod:

m12 good radio but rxs are pricy.

There are plenty of aftermarket receivers available which will save a bit of cash.

So I’ve been told 🙏🏻
 

have you any you could recommend please?

I shan’t be purchasing all in one go, so if the branded receivers are better, I’d rather save/wait than be disappointed.
