There seems to be a bug in software 1.03. The current limiter on the input does not work so with a high power demand on a low input voltage you can fry the charger.

The fixed firmware 1.05 can be downloaded here: https://ddownload.com/6nr6r2n5mjq3/DX8_V1.05.zip

So when you fry your charger due to a firmware issue, do they replace it?

That I do not know but if it is warranty they should solve it either in a replacement or a repair.

Can I use my current 2s discharge back from one of my X6s to get a higher then 15a discharge, when discharging a 1s? On the DX8

I think so, but you can download the manual and look it up.

Anyone has a lead on when the DX6 will come out?
Have no need for 8s, so would like the (assumed) smaller footprint.

Default Discharging by combining both channels?

My dx8 interns discharger current is around 5.6a per channel. Is it possible to discharge a 2S battery by combining both channels so it’s 10amps?

Sort of. You can do it but it'll only get you 70W (roughly 8A).

If you want full discharge capacity without adding a resistor block you can set up your charger to discharge one battery while charging another.

Pages 33 & 34 of the manual tell you how to set up your charger to do this.

Anyone else think the wheel is a little difficult to turn? It definitely doesn’t glide smoothly like my 406duo.

What’s the main benefit of that charger? Is it worth the price?

You will need to use the "Firmware Upgrades via SD Card" method.

Advantages:
1. Smaller and lighter than a 306duo (half the weight and about 1/3 smaller).
2. 2amp balance current
3. Don't know if it's true but people say it's more accurate.
4. Has capabilities of the 306duo when paired with an external discharger
5. Some places, like progressive rc, are selling the charger for $250. Cheaper than the $270 for the 306duo.
6. Shows charge and discharge capacity for each cell.

Disadvantages:
1. IMO the kickstand doesn't angle the charger enough for good screen visibility. I can see why though, the charge cables would get in the way.
2. Low internal discharge capabilities for those without an external discharger. A little less than half the current of the 306duo.
3. Scroll wheel isn't a smooth as the old design.
