Icharger 406

Upgrading my charger set up. Definitely gonna be a learning curve with this charger. Does this charge LIHV protek batteries?

what power supply would you recommend? I can get a shurr speed on a good deal.

I run this charger, it’s awesome and yes it will charge LIHV and the surr speed will work just fine I have the RL they are similar.

Just about every parameter is adjustable. I believe you just change the end voltage to 4.35. It will squawk at you when you do it, but it does it. However, I'd create a new LIHV profile so it is marked differently than lipo.

Mine has a LIHV mode.

Does the charger have to be updated or does it come with the new firmware already?

Alexv2024 02-08-2021 09:45 AM

I have a 2 year old 4010 and it doesn't have a specific Li-HV setting, but you can just change the charge voltage up to 4.35v.

I've heard theres a new limit of 4.4V roughly with the updated firmware, but I have no desire to charge anything that high.

So you may not have a specific profile but you can still charge a Li-HV to its max rated voltage either way.

Progressive rc has the instructions and software to update the ichargers; Duo Updates - ProgressiveRC this update includes the LIHV setting. You can also just make a profile and bump up the charge voltage to 4.35. I upgraded mine a couple years ago and it was a simple process.

My 308duo has LiHV. Purchased March 2019.

Yes, but where do you get the USB cable that is supposed to have the shields disconnected to prevent issues? My chargers did not come with one.

Page 35 of the manual:

Firmware Upgrades via SD Card
  1. i Create a new directory in the available SD card: X:\Junsi\Upgrade ;
  2. ii Rename the firmware file to 406DUO.BIN, and copied to the new directory;
  3. iii Insert the SD card into the charger, and press the Knob, STATUS-2, STOP/START-2 at the same time and electrify,

    the charger will automatically upgrade the firmware, which takes about 20 seconds.
  4. iv After the upgrading is complete, the charger will reboot.
