ESC ducted fan going in reverse
 

I connected a 30mm EDF to my umx timber plane, and when I throttle up, the fan runs then cuts off. I'm new to brushless motors, can anyone give me advice on what may be wrong? I experimented with the computer radio settings, and can't seem to find a setting that will allow consistent run up of the motor.
