RadioPost TS401 Help Needed
 

I just picked up a car that has this radio system. I have no experience or knowledge with it. Some told me it was one of the best out there, but if that was true, why are they gone? Is this a good Rx and Tx to use for racing? Can this Tx or Rx be sync'ed to other brands like Airtronics or Spektrum?

they were great some people had issues with them I never did I race mine all the time. very few brands will connect to others.im liking the flysky noble right now it seems good.the nb4

No, the system will not be compatible with any other radio brand on the market and there are no aftermarket Rx's that are compatible with RP, it's now a relic from a company that went out of business because they produced a series of 1 and done products without making any improvements to their designs, marginally acceptable radios and fundamental design flaws in their servos which were prone to stripping gears far too easily. They are no longer in business for a reason :(

It is true that they were the industry leader when they first came out, offering features nobody else offered but they faded away within 5-6 years.

One of the coolest features they had with their servos was a retractable enclosure in the servo case to stuff the excess servo wiring into the servo without having to trim the wire, I really wish more servo brands would do this!

There are still a couple local racers in my area that still run RP with success, the radio definitely stands the test of time provided you can put up with its quirks.

Well, no you got me thinking. I might be better off selling it and getting a Spektrum or Airtronics. I don't think I want to deal with glitches because someone else has my frequency, unless I remember to turn my radio on well before my next race. I wonder how much I could sell it for. Time to do some research on google and ebay.

Honestly I don't think Spektrum will be any better than the TS401, for small to medium size tracks running a 2S LiPo, I never once had a glitch. They were selling for $99 new with fire sale pricing when RP announced they were going out of business... so my guess is the system might be worth between $50-$75 depending on condition? Gonna be hard to sell for a radio with absolutely zero product support, who knows it might be a collectors item someday since it was the very first radio on the market with a color screen?

If I was going buy a new system for myself today I would get a HiTec Lynx 4S, there are several pro level drivers running that system in my area and they absolutely love that system, more info here worth considering:

I have an old Gen1 transmitter and I'm looking for more receivers. Does anyone know if the Gen2 RX will work with the Gen 1 tranmitter?

gen 2 will only work on gen 2.. you will need gen 1.seen some on ebay but I dont think they are there anymore . there was also a website selling them..

If you are or want to be racing, get something more decent than a Spektrum. Even a cheap T-FHSS set from Futaba or something like a Sanwa MT44 is so much better.
