What is your favorite brushless ESC?

Mine is this old Hobbyking 120 amp. I've had it for several years and it just keeps going.

Pros
reliability
longevity
excellent punch instantly
highly programmable with the card
never gets hot

Cons
big
heavy

I've heard great things about the old Hobbywing 120 amp SC8 ESC. They are still floating around and I've thought about getting one. I'll look into the 160A Pro though. What do you run yours in?

+1 for HobbyWing

I was burned by one of the HobbyKing "blue" color ESC's, the BEC was faulty out of the box and shot 4S directly into the Rx which killed both my Rx and my servo, I've since made sure to check the BEC voltage on every new ESC I have bought, fortunately the problem has been isolated to the HobbyKing ESC and haven't seen it happen with close to a dozen other brands of ESC's I have used over the past 10+ years... but HobbyWing has become the only brand I have grown to trust.

I'm a big Hobbywing fan as well. When I need a new ESC, that's what I get.

Being that the vehicle already weighs around 5-6 lbs., weight of the ESC would be the least of my concerns. );

Maclan is what I have been using in 1/10, very smooth. In 1/8, I bought HW sct pro and I like it. The Maclan came out after I bought my 1/8 electronics.

I have tekin.. I have Hobbywing..

Both are extremely capable.

Hobbywing currently is in both my short course trucks.

Interestingly I have not ever had a BEC fail shorted closed to the receiver, but I have had esc’s go up in spectacular fashion and on top that it didn’t fry the rec.

sanwa super vortex. it does 5 or 10 things no other esc does. that being said they arent the same things the hobbywing pro does and in the right application I would switch to that.

I have a Tekin RS Pro(8+ years old)and been very happy with it. Been in 3 different short course trucks and hundreds of batteries with no issues. It's first 3 years was 17.5 heavily boosted and after 8-10min racers was was around 140 degs and kept going. It's may Energizer bunny of esc's. All the others I tried(Orion, LRP and Novak) at some point quit on me, luckily during the warranty period.

I loved the Speed Passion Revention Pro 1.1 and have been running them for years now. Out of the 4-5 i've bought only one had issues and i'm pretty sure it was my fault but the jury is still out on that one lol. Otherwise i've been liking Hobbywing since SP is out of buisness.
