rec/esc conversion to esc only

Does any one know if you can convert a receiver/esc unit to by pass the receiver and just use the esc. I'm thinking about a cheap esc for a crawler.
Thanks RR

You have a combo unit you want to use with a different Rx? Do you know the model, or have a pic of it at least?

No you can not convert the all in 1 unit to use esc only you need a frequency sent to all in 1 unit

A too simple answer, he wants to hack the thing.

Basically it is possible as long the design is really a receiver and an ESC in one housing. Problem is tha when merging an ESC and receiver in one housing it possible and done to ditch the channel PWM signals and merge the ESC into the receiver its processor.

You need an oscilloscop and the matching transmitter to follow signals. And if you can fins a PWM signal it is possible to disconnect that from the receiver part and connect it to a different receiver.

But on the other hand, if we are talking about a brushed ESC, you can find one for 10 to 20 bucks.....

Thanks every one. It's a brushed ECX Rec/ESC unit. I'm not an electronics engineer. I just thought I might be able to plug it into a receiver and use it as an esc or if I disconnect the red (+) wire and only use the black (-) and white (signal) wires it might work. I thought I'd check to see if anyone had tried it before.

Hobbywing makes some cheap ESCs.
