AC or DC Charger
AC or DC charger I have a decent power supply that I use for my ham radio- and it's portable- But the connivance of AC is pretty appealing BUT in the field the ability to charge off my truck battery But I guess I could always use a power converter and use my cigarette lighter(?) Any opinions are greatly needed I plan to get this show on the road - Thanks

Most AC chargers can also be powered by DC.
And keep in mind that most high power AC chargers are limited on AC and will have full capacity in DC. |
DC will be the most cost effective for high charge rates, more info here:
Which charger is the best? |
got it thanks - I think I have it narrowed down AC/DC 150 watt single charger/ discharger with storage cap, bomb bag with a multi plug pigtail looks good we will see

I like ac/dc, carrying around the DC power supply got annoying over time.
The Thunder Power TP 610 I have has a DC input as well |
It depends on how much power you want/need and how fast you want to charge and discharge your batteries. All high power chargers 400+ watt chargers and are dc only. The highest power charger that has an internal power supply ac/dc that i know of is the skyrc d400 and the protek 625. They are 200watts x 2 channels and 400watt max chargers with a max charge rate or 20-25 amps and discharge power of about 30 watts. If your ok with only charging you 2cell lipo at 20amps and 4 cell lipos at only 10-15 amps and only being able to discharge a 2cell at 4 amps and a 4 cell lipo at 2 amps than this is the best ac/dc charger to get
high power chargers like the ichargers are dc only but with the correct power supply have 1500watts of power and can charge and discharge at 40 amps with 2cell or 4 cell lipos and even 6 cell lipos. Last time i checked any competitive track with competitive drives most 90% all run the icharger 406 and most all charge and discharge at 40 amps. |
