Change timing in revtech xfactor?
 

Hey somebody can explain me how to change the timing in the Revtech xfactor? The timing ring is soo tight, i dont want to break it. How do you change timing in this motor?

For the first time adjusting on the new motor i had to take mine apart. There is a locking ring that I had to sand the paint where it contacts the can. It seems like a common problem as it’s mentioned in the revtech forum here. It’s a odd design. Just back out all the timing cover screws and you will see the locking ring. Note the orientation as the ring only goes back in one way

So Trinity acknowledges the problem and solves it for about 30 bucks (after shipping)!!!! on a buggy I don't know if this would have enough clearance between the chassis and motor to work - maybe a 180/270* version.

Might have to print my own! I'll post it here if I do.

Problems aside the motor is still very fast....maybe not having the screws running down the length (which is why adjusting the timing sucks) is just the price you have to pay for that extra power.

problem ? I can change the timing very easily even with out this tool :)

Like the OP mentioned as well as on mine the timing ring was ridiculously hard to turn. Even with all the screws removed it needed way to much force to turn it and then when it would it would go an easy 10* at a time. My thought was when they assembled these either the buildup on the paint on the retainer ring caused this to be unnecessarily tight or the paint wasn't cured all the way before final assembly. I think in the normal REVTECH/Trinity motor forum here its mentioned once or twice as well.

Made this as it fits between the motor and my fan and on a buggy you dong really have the option to get the full 360* tool that Trinity makes.

if there were no problem, there'd be no use for a tool. i haven't had an issue with any of my xfactors (i've had 3-4) but plenty of others have reported issues and thus trinity's fix.
