How to charge at 2C
 

My charger's instructions don't mention how to charger faster than 1C. To charge at 2C, do I just double the amps on the setting, for example setting it to 9.6a for a 4800mah battery?

That's it : charging at 1C means charging at 1 * the capacity of your battery ; e.g. : if your battery is a 7.4v 4000mAh LiPo, charging at 1C means setting current charge to 4A. If you want to charge it faster, e.g. at 2C, then you have to setup the charging rate to 8A.

No mention of charger or batteries being used. If you find your charger is not getting up to you new 2C amp setting, you need a more powerful charger. If your 4800mAh pack is a two cell LiPo, you'll need ≥ 81 watt charger to get your 9.6Amp setting 2C charging rate. If your 4800mAh pack is a four cell LiPo pack, you'll need a charger with ≥ 162 watts of power to get hit that 2C charge rate amperage.

And what can sometimes complicate this is many AC/DC chargers will list their power rating based on what they can achieve when hooked up to a separate power supply. When running off their own power supply, the power output can be significantly lower.

Thanks. That all makes perfect sense. Just didn’t want to assume. I’m currently using a SkyRC D100, which looks like it can handle said battery at 2C if I’m using a power supply, or if I’m using just one of the two channels.
