Futaba SR is it worth it?

Hey guys Merry Christmas and happy holidays!! I’m in need of upgrading my transmitter I’m currently running a Futaba 3PV and it gets the job done but i need a bit more tuning options. I see that Futaba has a SR receiver available for the 4PM. I’ve recently upgraded my servos in both my buggies with the Savox 2290sg and 2292sg they both are probably overkill for the job and boast some impressive torque and speed 2290- @690oz .13@ 60°. / 2292 @430oz .07 @60° both are digital and brushless. My question is, and i know it’s been asked before but I’m unclear on the answer; will the Futaba SR receiver work with my servos in SR mode? Or would i have to get a Futaba servo for it to work? If I’d have to get Futaba servos than the SR is out of the question.. plain and simple i would like to speed up response and tuning options (throttle curve) would i notice a difference with the 4pm over the 3PV in response time (latency)? Or do they operate at the same speed? (I guess i had two questions) just looking to upgrade my transmitter and I’d like to be as informed as possible before i spend $$$

thanks in advance

No your servos do not support sr mode. Sr mode only works on certain futaba high end servos. I personally run a futaba 7px with all futaba servos in sr mode and with the r334sbs sr reciever and to be 100% honest I do not notice a difference but that probably because I’m not a very good driver.

All is explained in several topics regarding transmitters with SR mode.

SR needs servo's that are specified to work with SR mode, the same counts with Sanwa its SSR mode.

gotcha, i thought it had something to do with pulse width.. I’m new at this and just want a more responsive transmitter/receiver than I’m using now 3pv. SR is now off the table.. I’m not willing to change servos since i just got these.. thanks for input

Check if you are using the T-FHSS mode for the fastest response, if it is at ne of the others (and for sure S-FHSS) then you are on a low speed response mode.

The 3PV also has high speed T-FHSS. This little radio is a good deal. I got one for my kid’s Euro Truck.

sorry just saw this.. my notifications aren’t working.. i have the R203GF receiver which is S-FHSS or FHSS. I guess I’m on slow mo

So Far the only servos that work in SR mode are the HPS -CB700 and HPS-CT700.

I have been using the OS tuned B-1 servos and they re amazing.

With the R334SBS receiver i can remotely change their behaviour, not only response but dead band , stretch etc.

Hope this helps.

this is not true at all. The ct700 and cb700 are futabas best and newest servos But many of futabas older servos are compatible with sr mode.

the S3470SV, S9370SV, S9470SV, S9570SV, S9571SV and S9670SV , s9372sv, s9274sv all have sr mode I use the bls 571sv Which also supports sr mode.

oh wow.. didnt know that...
what do i need to do to make them work dude?

Thank you for the correction.
On page 137 on the 7PX manual it shows how to change the servos to SR mode. i thought they were set already but they were in NORMAL mode.

the only set back was to unplug them from the car and plug them via the communications port on the 7px in order to read/change to SR mode / write and re-plugging them back to the receiver.

Everything works great!
